Mexicano padel: rules, scoring and where to play it in Dubai

Mexicano is the thinking player's social format — every round is matched on the live standings, so games get closer and more competitive as the session goes on.

What is Mexicano padel?

Mexicano is a social format for individual players where the matchups are driven by the standings. The first round starts random or seeded; from then on, players are grouped by their position on the leaderboard, and within each court the usual pairing is 1st + 3rd vs 2nd + 4th.

The result: whoever is having a great day plays other in-form players, beginners aren't steamrolled, and almost every match stays close to the last point.

The rules in 60 seconds

  • Players: any multiple of four, signed up individually.
  • Round 1: random or seeded matchups.
  • Every other round: re-matched on the live standings — top four on the top court, and so on.
  • Matches: played to a fixed number of points (16, 21, 24 or 32), serve rotating every 4 points.
  • Winner: highest individual points total at the end.
💡 Why players love it: Mexicano self-balances. A blowout in round one just means better-matched opponents in round two.

Mexicano vs Americano

If you want maximum variety and simplicity, play Americano. If you want every round to feel like a final, play Mexicano. Both are individual formats with rotating partners — the difference is purely in how the next round is drawn.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Mexicano and Americano padel?

Americano uses a fixed rotation set before the session; Mexicano re-pairs players each round based on the current standings, so you always face players performing at your level that day.

How are Mexicano matchups decided?

After each round, players are ranked by points. On each court the classic pairing is 1st with 3rd against 2nd with 4th, which keeps every match tight.
